Playing in the neighbor's leaves

Since we don't have enough leaves in our front and back yard combined to build a decent leaf pile, we begged our neighbor to let us play in hers. We had fun running and jumping into the pile, building forts, and having a leaf-ball fight. Then we helped her rake them up and put them into bags.

Life and it's little bumps to the head

If you haven't read yet, Sarah fell a few weeks ago and got a concussion. That same day, Rachel was running from the dog and she tripped and fell on some free weights we have in the corner. She immediately got a huge goose-egg and when Mike got home that night he took a picture to record the incident. Not to be out done by her two younger sisters, Bekah had to go and get a bump on her head as well. I went to pick the kids up from school on Thursday and Michael was the only one there. Hannah had taken Bekah to the nurse because of a goose-egg on her "forebrain"(as Bekah calls it). Come to find out this had happened before school let out at a bead party where the kids were allowed to play on the big kid playground. The sun was too bright and Bekah ran into one of the metal bars. Apparently no one saw her and she never cried or told her teacher. This picture was from a few days later.

Our loooong four day weekend...

The kids just had a four day weekend-It is nice to have them back at school today! Friday morning, Michael ended up in two time-outs because he kept kicking off his shoes and making them fly across the cultural hall, that afternoon he did it again in Hannah's room and broke her light cover! Friday night after playing with two different sets of friends all day (one as a playdate the other as babysitting while I was helping a friend pack), we got dressed for a family picture and then got to go out to eat because I hadn't prepared dinner. Saturday I had to go help the same family load up their trailer, then Mike went to the car show at Cessna. We worked hard all day doing chores and then Mike and I went on a date. Sunday was thankfully a day of rest, but we did get out to meet all our neighbors-some new some old. Monday, Hannah had a friend over and Bekah and Sarah were upset about not getting to play with them. After her friend left, we went to the zoo and then to the Cessna pool for FHE. The computer and the TV were overused, Rachel had a cold and wanted to be held all day, and the dog peed and pooped in the house again!

Bekah's field trip

 

Bekah's kindergarten class went on a field trip to the pumpkin patch. Mike was able to go with her and take these pictures. He was put in charge of Bekah and her friend. She had a great time with Daddy! She drew a picture of her trip and it had the horse swing and the pig races. She was very excited to show us her pumpkin and her picture.

Sarah's accident

Yesterday morning, we went down to the church for a playgroup. Sarah was playing on the stage and she got too close to the edge and fell off. She got hurt pretty bad, and looked like she was having a seizure (we don't know for sure if she did or not). She calmed down a little after that, but all she would do is cry. After a half hour of me comforting her, trying to get her to talk to me, and trying to keep her awake, she threw up. I decided to take her to the doctor and dropped Rachel off at my friend's house. I called the doctor and they told me to take Sarah to the hospital. So, we go to the emergency room and Sarah falls asleep while they're working her up and asking me what happened. Her behaivor was odd enough that they thought she should have a CT scan in case of a skull fracture or bleeding on the brain. Sarah woke up as they were wheeling her down and then threw up again. My pooor little angel, I couldn't help think the worst and I was a mess thinking what I would ever do without her (or any of my kids). THANKFULLY the CT scan showed neither, and after she had taken nausea medication and slept another 30 minutes while we were waiting for the results of the CT scan, she was coming around and acting a little more like herself. They released us and when we pulled into our cul-de-sac the Missionaries were there waiting for us. They came to give her a blessing, and ever since they did, she's made a speedy recovery. I am so thankful for a loving Heavenly Father who comforted me and Sarah in the hospital, answered my pleadings that Sarah would be okay, and for the Missionaries who gave her a blessing and made her well.

Mamma's taking us to the zoo tomorrow

Now that the kids are back in school, it's kindof nice to take Sarah and Rachy to the zoo for some special attention. The animals were all very active and we got to see some cool stuff. Sarah wanted to see the "monkeys" first, then she pulled the wagon through the Austrailian exhibit. There were birds and animals out and about everywhere you turned. This blue parrot swooped down on us and nearly hit me. Sarah took some pictures that didn't quite make the cut-I don't see a professional photography career in her future. The playground was closed for repairs, but we ate at the picnic area, then headed to the gorillas. After I pryed Sarah away from the tv screen, we saw a gorilla tearing apart a cottonwood tree and beating his chest. Next we went to the tiger trek where we got to see the trainers feeding/training one of the female tigers. She was doing all kinds of neat tricks for her food. And we finally saw the red panda out of it's little log house! Next we passed the grizzly bear on our way to the otters (mommy's favorite). The bear was in the water, the otters were nowhere to be seen. The penguins were our last stop-only one penguin came to say hello. Rachy by this time was fast asleep and Sarah had to get home for a playdate. That's what we love about having a membership-we can come and go whenever we want.
